Calculation of the volume of a liquid in a horizontal cylindrical tank

The formula for calculating the volume of liquid in the tank is given by:

Where V = volume of liquid
D = Diameter of the tank
L = Length of the tank
and, H = Depth of the liquid

The calculation can be done manually but would take some time as it is quite complicated. This calculation can be done in an instant through a small computer program. It can be useful for finding out the quantity of liquid in a cylindrical tank lying horizontally in some inaccessible location, say, underground, as in the case of a gas (petrol) station.
